How To Tie a Tie Easy Youtube Video And Other Things With Awesome Names

My brother and I created a new youtube station called Levinson Brothers with a different mandate than my happyjoel/contest winning youtube site. The expressed purpose of this station is to try to create videos that get youtube views and hopefully make some money that way (I think the guys on South Park called them internet dollars.)

This thought process has already led to the creation of the wildly successful video series “Kitty, Puppy, Baby” in which Kitty, Puppy and Baby make jokes that otherwise would be dying in our respective joke notebooks.

Now, based on some “how to get more views on youtube” videos I spent my saturday watching, I’ve decided to add an instructional component. I’m also attempting to “optimize” my title for google searching, hence the video title:

“How To Tie a Tie Easy Youtube Video, Learn To Tie A Tie, For Beginners, The Song.”

It actually does have some valuable tie tying information and if you follow the instructions, you will be able to tie a Prince Albert Tie Knot, a four-in-hand knot and a bow tie. It also teaches you to love again. Or at least maybe makes you laugh once or twice.

And it’s designed to be shared. If you know someone who’s heading to prom, a wedding, a funeral, a gala, a court date, a job interview, meeting the in-laws for the first time or any such thing, please show them the video so they can get it right. It’s important.

After 4 years of making my living by running around and doing these contests, this is what I’ve got to show for it. It makes me laugh and smile. There are definitely some video highlights missing but I tended towards recent footage because my cameras were just too grainy and shaky back in the day (that said, I’ve still included me dancing with my beloved water cooler.)

My brother Stephen, one half of the Levinson Brothers, has been hard at work for years in New York creating comedy for Channel 101. He does some work on this show (both writing AND as an FBI agent!) that stars musical mastermind Tony Zaret called “Gary Teaches Guitar.”

If you want the chance to watch this and other shows featuring aliens and/or penis jokes, there’s a live screening happening tonight at 8 pm at 153 East 3rd st. in New york (that’s the UCB East theater.) Details.

For many years now, dudes have been growing mustaches to bring attention to cancer’s that affect men, specifically prostate cancer. While this is important information, it’s also a great excuse for people to grow out mustaches and celebrate the mustache in general.

So this year, my buddy Zach Sherwin (AKA MC Mr. Napkins) were given a gig to put together a little song about the history of mustaches. As is our way, Zach tackled the lyrics (and crushed it) and I tackled the music. Then the Movember people put together a video of epic mustache proportions.

Makes me wish we had the budget to hire dancers and warehouses for all the collaborations we do.

I decided that winning a lot of contests and having some sense of financial stability and some free time is allowing me to finally pursue my dream of creating the ultimate Heavy Metal band with me as a front man. I have assembled the band and today is our first practice.

I am particularly excited that I won’t have to be playing an instrument unless I want to, so I will be free to dance around stage like I’d like.

Also, I AM ANNOUNCING A CONTEST
I am opening the door to anyone and everyone to come up with the new name for our heavy metal band. I am not promising I will use a selection, but if I DO use your suggested name, you will receive a $50 iTunes gift card and you will be mentioned in the rockumentary that I’m sure will be made about our band in the next decade or so.

Christmas Decorations at Joel’s House

Growing up Jewish in Dayton, Ohio, I was pretty anti-Christmas. I used to wear hannukah as a badge of honor, in the same way Cubs fans wear losing.

Somehow, along the way, things changed. I am now the most unabashed lover of Christmas I know. I love Christmas movies (top three are Home Alone, Elf and Christmas story), I love Christmas music, (anything by Elvis, with Silver Bells and Blue Christmas topping the list) I love lights, I love trees, I love it all.

This year, since I live with two non-Jews, I am proud to say we get Christmas decorations. My roommate Vanessa bought some lights, and asked me to hang them while she was at work today. I know I should be hanging them for prettiness, but instead I hung them for comedy – hence the decorations in the picture. Each time I walk into the living room it makes me laugh.

I also bought Egg Nog last night after trying it for the first time a couple days ago. It’s fucking great.

And I love Christmas so much I made this video. This video is not perfect, but I do hope you enjoy it, and have a very merry set of holidays.
