Here’s the clip of me on the CBS Evening News with Katie Couric last night: (if the embed doesn’t work, click the link here: Cashing in on YouTube

So last night I was on nationally televised, nationally respected CBS News. I feel really good about the whole piece. More than anything, I feel amazing that my mustache and I shouted “More Beef in More Places” in front of a national audience. That is totally sweet. The beef council cannot possibly have imagined that giving away an iPod online was going to get them that much free, national press, right?

Another thing that’s totally sweet – I’m positive I could beat up that Buckley dude in a fight. POSITIVE.

The best part for me was obviously hearing the phrase “He’s become the most successful modern day jingle artist online.” I feel really good about that. My brother was saying it’s time for me to start turning this into some advertising jobs and really writing jingles for companies without having to win prizes to get paid. It’s an interesting idea – my only worry is that I hate going back and forth and having stuff criticized. I like to do something, have it done, and move on, and I’m not big into revisions. Still, the idea of an actual paycheck every time a song plays on commercial TV sounds pretty sick. Any takers out there?

I don’t know if this is going to help in winning the Solo Star video (which they showed me and Joey making in my kitchen) but I also love that they chose the most hilarious part of me recording the song beforehand (specifically – the part where I hit/don’t hit the worst high note of my entire life.) Glad that was captured for posterity!

  1. Great Job!
As for Stephen comment: “…My brother was saying it’s time for me to start turning this into some advertising jobs and really writing jingles for companies without having to win prizes to get paid….” I would say that is a great idea: but one better idea would be to create your OWN company (like $300 on legalzoom.com!); and then you can get Client Accounts and keep ALL of the profits (AND keep creative control…. since you’d be your own boss 🙂 … Just a thought! How about “Funkyhair Productions, LLC” ?!
